Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC)

Ensuring academic excellence and continuous improvement through the RCD Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC).

INTRODUCTION

QEC at Rehman College of Dentistry (RCD) was established in 2024, with the In-charge QEC officially nominated in the same period. At Rehman College of Dentistry, we aspire to be the preeminent school of dentistry in the country and on course to establish a QEC that is in complete compliance with the requirement of the University through innovation, digital transformation, data analytics and extensive report generation. 

The QEC department is involved in the maintenance, enhancement and assessment of quality in higher education institutions. Its main aim is to ensure that the stake holders i.e. the undergraduate/ postgraduate students, are able to get the best quality in education delivery, which is regularly assessment to enable cumulative progression towards excellence. It is an iterative process that promotes regular feedback in collaboration with the QEC department, therefore leading to implement strategies for correction of any deficiencies at the earliest.

FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

  • The RCD since its inception has submitted two Yearly Progress reports (2024 & 2025) to KMU for showing compliance with national/international best practices.
  • For effective decision making, the RCD Team of QEC has been resvised in order to ensure smooth functionning.
  • Clinical and Lab Skills data has been updated for 2024-25 and to ensure quality while students gain hands on experiences with modern techniques.
  • The corrective measures against the weak areas of BDS program has been rectified for ensuring continuous quality improvement (CQI).
  • Faculty and student awareness drives on the mechanism and functionning have concluded for the new qurarter as per KMU targets.
  • PM&DC has granted permission to increase annual intake of BDS admissions.

QEC AWARENESS SESSIONS

Awareness sessions for the students of BDS were conducted in the year 2024-25, to facilitate their role and make them understand the functions and activities of Quality Enancement Cell.

QEC Activities of RCD for the period 2025-26

  • Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan is working as Incharge QEC at RCD since 2024.
  • RCD has successfully conducted QEC awareness session for its the faculty members titled: “Role of QEC in Higher Education” Dated; 12th December 2025.
  • The college has completed applicable surveys, including clinical and lab skills for improving the quality of learning & teaching at college level.
  • A student-centric approach is adopted with the inclusion of student representation in the College level statutory meetings.
  • In this regard, a meeting was held on 13/5/2026 with the relevant committee and student representatives to obtain their input for curricular enhancements.
  • The QEC In-charge has participated in the 6th International PNQAHE Conference held at Karachi by Khyber Medical University dated: 13–15 April 2026.
